Maine Deer Hunt

Northern Maine

Hunting for big bucks in the North Maine woods is different from hunting anywhere else. From the vast amount of unorganized territories, endless miles of timberland, hard wood ridges to soft wood groves, to huge cedar swamps, the area is large and the weather unpredictable.

You may not see great numbers of deer during a week, but you may get a chance at a trophy of a lifetime. The deer densities are lower here than in Southern areas, but odds are that the deer will most likely weigh 200lbs or more dressed. Each year this area produces a number of bucks that make the "Biggest Bucks of Maine Club" and the "Maine Antler and Skull Trophy Club" (MASTC).

Peak rut is the second and third week of November. The weather can range from mid-40's to below zero with wind, rain and snow. Most years, snow has fallen by the third and fourth week of November.

Types of hunts available include stand hunts, tracking and still-hunting. You can do it on your own or choose a semi-guided hunt.

While no one can guarantee you game, we do guarantee 100% professional effort and attitude, and a good time.

Southern/Mid Coast Archery Hunting

In the Southern, mid-coast area of the state, we offer Archery hunting in the expanded archery zones. These zones are characterized by intensive residential development interspersed with small woodlots. Much of this area cannot be hunted with firearms due to municipal ordinances banning discharge of firearms. Nearly all land in the Expanded Archery Hunting Zones is privately owned. Archers who are legally licensed can purchase (1) Buck tag ($30) and unlimited doe tags ($10 each) in the expanded archery zones. The expanded archery season generally starts in September and runs through mid December.

At this time, those hunters choosing to hunt the expanded archery season will have to be responsible for their own lodging and meals. Fortunately there are numerous Bed and Breakfast's, campgrounds, and hotel/motels in the immediate area.
